Getting better at chess is a desire of every chess player whether you are beginner, club player, advanced player, all of them wants to improve but how? in this regard, I reviewed user CronosTheSecond [chess player] and here are my findings and suggestions for him to improve.
While going through his games, I picked his two recent chess games one with white pieces and second from black pieces.
Let’s watch his chess game with white pieces.
My analysis for “CronosTheSecond”
After a review of your chess games, i came to conclusion that at your playing level, you need basic understanding of chess game, i did not mean how pieces moves and how to caslte but what do i mean is what comes in your mind when you play your first move?
That is really serious question, if you just play what you like or you play any move and then game goes on.. if this is the case, then you must pay attention to it, it will not improve your chess game and thats not the way to improve.
Your main goal from first move should be checkmate your opponent. Yes that’s right, you should aim for the king only. How to achieve this goal? you need to learn few things.
My Suggestion for Improving Your Chess Game
Here are my suggestion for you about openings, middlegame, and endgame.
Learn Chess Opening:
Don’t play irregular openings lik Grob or Polish. Instead you should play sound and solid openings which start with 1.e4 and 1.d4, these are two best moves in the openings, because they control the center, open your pieces, and help your king to castle into safety.
So in my suggestion you should learn London Opening, which is sound and solid. Search on about plans and ideas behind London opening and learn how will you apply these ideas into your chess game.
What to do in Middlegame
Once you learn the opening ideas, your middlegame will be better, becuase in the opening theory you will get middle game plans according to your chess openings. Some general rules also applies in middlegame like creating a weakness and then exploiting that weakness.
Learn Endgame
Without learning the endgame you can not improve your chess game, you may have seen some games where a chess player gets big advantage in the opening even a piece up but in the endgame he loses his game, why? because he did not learn the endgame.
You should learn basic of endgames like pawn ending, famous rook endgames, you may search on the internet about how to play pawn endgames.
Do not Solve Tactics
I am sure, you got a little shock, even if you solve 1000 tactics its not gurantee that your will perform those tactics in your real game. So my suggestion to learn patterns instead of solving tactics. when you learn a pattern like greek gift or fool’s mate then you will get the idea behind sacrifices.
