In above game, on move 2 you just ignored the central pawn which was hanging and you developed the knight instead.

The best move was to capture the pawn which was controlling the center.

How will you Learn Basics of Chess?

What is the object of playing chess? the goal is checkmate your opponent’s king even if all the pieces remain on the board.

But there is a problem, that your opponent has same power and pieces, now here another question arises that then how should we win?

In order to win chess game, you should decrease your opponent’s pieces and pawns and you should gain material advantage like having one or two extra pawns or pieces.

For example if all knights, bishops, rooks and queen have exchanged and you have 6 pawns and your opponent has 4 pawns, in this case you will win by promoting one of your pawn to new queen.

Now the problem remains same? How to capture those extra pawns in order to convert into win.

The answer is, to get advantage step by step, first you need to control center with pawns, like 1.e4 and 1.d4 move then develop your knight and pieces, and then continue getting more and more space on the center of the board, that’s where your opponent will have the problem of developing and lack of space to move his pieces.

After reaching this position, where you will have control most of the board, and the space, after that you should find a tactical motif and capture his king. when you have that much advantage you will press his king and pieces automatically.

If you understood above theory of basics, which I explained, then you will have solid foundation of basis of chess.

I suggest you to read this article more than once in order to gain information of basics of chess.

I have found one of your chess game, where you applied some basics of chess, although there were lot of mistakes, but this advantage has converted into win.

Here is your game, and now apply these basics in all of your chess game.

        })();

Above Game’s Review

In above game, you made many mistakes, and it starts from move 2, when black played e6 move, you should have played c4 move, controlling more central squares.

And then you neglected the basic chess opening rule, which is to develop your pieces and you were trying to capture your opponent’s queen although his queen had many escaping squares.

Opening Suggestions

In many other chess games, you are playing with basic knowledge of chess opening, which is not enough, if you want to get 1500 rating then you must learn chess openings with theory.

Its my suggestion that you should create or get opening repertoire and play with it, until you reach 2000 rating.

There are many free sources available for free opening repertoire, you can get from YouTube or search on google.com.

Middlegame Suggestions

In the middlegame, you were blundering your pieces, now next question will be how to stop blunders in chess?

This happens lot in beginner games, and the solution is to just ask one question when its your turn.

Do I have any unprotected piece or pawn? if you seen any hanging piece, or unprotected piece then first you have to find the way to protect it.

If you just follow above rule then you will never blunder your piece or pawn.

Endgame Suggestions

In endgame, you should learn basic pawn ending and basic rook ending. If you learn these two ending you will increase 100 elo for sure.

Go to YouTube and search king and pawn endgame and then rook endgame.

Conclusion:

Now I have given you two suggestions and topics to learn, one is create your opening repertoire, and second is to protect your piece and pawn in order to avoid blunders.

If you still have any questions, you are free to ask at: ChessJunction.com

Opening Suggestion:

In many of your chess games, you are not controlling the center and you are not giving the importance of central pawns.

Please remember that Philidor’s famous saying about pawns.:

Pawns are soul of chess.

In above game, on move 6 you exchanged your central d pawn for his side pawn, I know that at that time you do not have much choice, but please remember that central pawns like e4 and d4 are most powerful pawns in chess.

In the opening, on move 3 when black played d6 which is called philidor defense, you have a advantage by exchanging your e pawn and exchanging queen and stopping black’s king for castling.

If your opponent’s king in the center and you have castled king, that’s one of advantage which can be converted into win.

In order to convert this advantage into win, you need to master two skills, one is your piece development and second is attacking skill.

Please do find an opening repertoire, and play according to opening theory and plans, just playing without learning will not improve your chess game.

With white pieces, play Bishop opening and against 1.e4 play Scandinavian Defense.

Read also about must know strategies for beginners: https://chessrewards.com/chess-strategies-and-tactics/

Middle Game Suggestion:

What is a value of pawn in your mind? If its just a pawn to be sacrificed, then you need to update database of your mind.

In my mind I look at every pawn as a queen.

Now You should learn how to create a weakness in your opponent’s camp and how to play pawn structures.

Endgame Suggestion:

In the endgame, you have only two goals, one is to create more weakness, and second is to create a passed pawn.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, try to learn or create opening repertoire, in the middlegame, learn pawn structures, and in the endgame, learn how to create a passed pawn.

Opening Suggestions:

With white pieces, you are trying to play Scotch gambit, which is good and sound. My suggestion is that you should stick with it and learn its theory.

In other some games with white pieces, you are trying to achieve same setup which is not possible in chess, for example against Scandinavian Defense, you are ignoring the d5 pawn, which you should capture, and you are developing the bishop to c4.

My suggestion is that in Scandinavian Defense you should always capture e takes d5, this move will give you the advantage with white pieces.

With black pieces, you are facing the same problem, you are just developing pieces and controlling the center with black pieces which is not enough!

Let me explain why? because with black pieces you are always one tempi down in the opening, and please remember that chess is a precise game.

You must look at white pieces, and you must know what white player is going to do, which variation he is playing and what are his plans, and then you have to respond with move by move.

Please remember that you should create a opening repertoire with black pieces, and its my suggestion that you should learn Scandinavian Defense against 1.e4.

Middlegame Suggestion:

In the middlegame, you often hang your piece without any protection, it often occurs in beginners game.

Now here is a tip for you and for all beginners for avoiding blunders and hanging pieces.

Before moving any piece or pawn, check at every pawn and pieces and see if there is any unprotected piece, if you find any, please protect it, that way you will never blunder in chess.

Conclusion:

In the opening, you have to learn opening theory, and you have to create an opening repertoire.

In the middlegame, you should look for unprotected piece and pawn and try to fix as soon as possible.

If you still have any questions, feel free to ask.

Opening Suggestions:

I saw that you are struggling against d4 because dutch defense is not that good defense against d4. I myself played d4 opening for 2 years and in my experience its not that good for you either.

I suggest you that you should learn nimzo indian defense, or play d5 move which is strong and solid.

With black against 1.e5 you are playing sicilian defense, with Nc6 which is good. My suggestion is that you should learn Sicilian Kan.

I have created a complete repertoire with my experience and some example chess games on each variations, here is a link: https://chessrewards.com/sicilian-kan/

Middlegame Suggestion:

There are only two plans in middlegame, one is to find weakness in your opponent’s camp and second is to create the weakness. There are many tutorials available on youtube on this topic.

Other thing which will improve your middlegame is the opening theory, yes learning opening theory is very important and sometimes it will give you a big advantage in the opening.

Endgame Suggestion:

In the endgame, you also have two plans, one is to create more weakness and second is to create a passed pawn. now question arises here how to achieve these two goals?

The first question is covered in middlegame section, and second question is Rook Endgame. If you learn basics of rook endgame, you will get ideas on how to create a passed pawn.

There are many examples of rook and pawn endgame which is either won or draw, if you learn theory of rook endgame, then you will get an easy to play endgame and you will have the advantage of the knowledge and the direction of play.

Conclusion:

In order to reach 2000 rating, you should create a solid opening repertoire against d4 and e4 defense.

And if you learn theory of your openings, you will get enough compensation in the opening and that advantage will take you to 2000 rating.

Opening Suggestion:

with white pieces, you are playing Giuoco Piano, which is good opening, but I suggest you to play the Bishop Opening, Bishop Opening is aggressive and limits your opponent and the plans are very clear and straightforward, which is to attack Black’s king.

With Black pieces, you are playing with Caro Kann, which is good and sound opening. I suggest you to stick to this opening until you get 1500 rating.

Middlegame Suggestion:

In the middlegame, you often blunder a piece, but in one recent chess game you blundered a queen, which is terrible mistake. You should not blunder any piece or pawn.

Do you know how to stop blunders? the simple answer is that you must look at the chess board and check which pieces or pawns are unprotected, when you see unprotected pawn that is where you blunder. So please keep this tip for avoiding blunders.

So my suggestion is to learn how to avoid blunders, and learn tactical motif. For learning tactical motif you may visit: https://chessrewards.com/chess-strategies-and-tactics/.

Endgame Suggestion:

There are only two plans in the endgame, one is to create weakness, and second is to create a passed pawn. Now it’s up to you how do you achieve this goal in your next endgame.

Conclusion:

One more thing I noticed that you are playing bullet a lot, I warn you that at your level bullet will destroy your basic chess understanding, play blitz or rapid chess game for improvement.

In above game, you outperformed your opponent slowly but surely and that’s called a strategy, at your level, its impossible to play like this but you are playing it, and that’s good thing.

I have created a study plan for you for getting 1800 rating.

Study Plan to Reach 1800 Rating

1. Openings

Focus on mastering 3-4 openings deeply rather than playing too many different lines. This will give you confidence and reduce mistakes.

with White:

Against 1…e5: Study the Italian Game (e.g., 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4) or Ruy-Lopez.

Against 1…c5: Study Anti-Sicilian systems like 2. Nc3 or the Open Sicilian.

Against other defenses: Prepare a basic repertoire against the Caro-Kann and French.

with Black:

Against 1. e4: Master the Sicilian Defense (e.g., Najdorf or Classical) or stick with a solid 1…e5 repertoire like the Petrov Defense.

Against 1. d4: Study the Nimzo-Indian Defense or the Queen’s Gambit Declined.

Training: Learn common traps of your opening’s traps.

Use Chessable or Lichess Opening Explorer to learn key lines and Spend 15-20 minutes daily on opening theory.

2. Middlegame Strategy

There are two things you need to improve, one is pawn structures and second is tactical motifs.

Pawn Structures:

Study isolated pawns, doubled pawns, and pawn majorities. Learn plans associated with each structure.

Piece Activity: Ensure every piece contributes to your position, and avoid passivity.

Tactical Motifs: Keep sharpening your tactical vision by solving 20 chess puzzles daily with theme in mind.

Training: Use books like “My System” by Aron Nimzowitsch to understand pawn play and piece coordination. Solve 5-10 thematic positional puzzles daily, focusing on concepts like outposts, weak pawns, and open files. Analyze classic games by players like Capablanca to understand strategic planning.

4. Endgame

To consistently beat 1800-rated opponents, you need mastery of basic and intermediate endgames.

King and pawn endgames: Opposition, triangulation, and breakthrough techniques.

Rook endgames: Lucena and Philidor positions.

Minor piece endgames: Handling bishops and knights in simplified positions.

Training:

Work through “Silman’s Complete Endgame Course” (chapters relevant for 1400–1800). Spend 20 minutes every other day solving endgame positions. Practice practical endgames on Lichess Endgame Trainer or chessable.com.

Conclusion:

With this study plan you will improve your chess game and your rating will be increased to above 1800. If you still have any questions, you may ask in comments below.

Opening Suggestions:

In above chess game, you did not play Bishop opening the correct way, although I am recommending Bishop Opening for many users.

The main plan in Bishop opening is to attack on the king side. So when you play your next chess game please keep this plan in your mind.

In some other chess games, some time you play Viena game and sometime you just play random moves, I don’t know what’s the reason behind it.

Perhaps, you do not have an opening repertoire, but if you do have the opening repertoire, please stick to it, until you get 1500 rating.

Let’s watch one of your chess game with black pieces. Flip the chess board for better view.

I am afraid to tell that you have played very terribly, believe me. Please learn proper setup before playing. At your level, play easy openings like Scandinavian Defense or Caro Kann.

Against D4, play d5 and also learn Nimzo Indian, which will help you learn strategical chess.

Middlegames Suggestion:

In the middlegame, you have only two plans, please remember this, number one is to create a plan and find weakness and second is how to create weakness.

Endgame Suggestion:

Learn how to create a passed pawn and also learn basic rook endgame positions.

Conclusion:

In the opening, learn bishop opening and with black learn scandinavian defense. In the middlegame and endgame, learn how to play with pawns.

Opening Suggestion:

In one of your recent game you played Viena Game, which is ok and sound opening and its has theory to learn and there are many positions in vienna where you have to know everything before playing or you will be crushed in the opening.

So my suggestion is that you should play with Bishop’s Opening, this opening is very sharp and straight to the point which is to checkmate black’s king or get enough compensation such as space advantage or huge center.

In one of your game against Owen defense, you did not play according to opening theory. Playing against Owen Defense is easy for white and you can win in 15 moves. Check out famous trap in owen defense at Youtube.

Let’s watch one of your chess game with black pieces. Please Flip the board to blackside for a better view.

In above game, on move 4 when you played move Nf6, you missed the chance to equalize white’s advantage in one move, the best move was e5 move, quickly challenging the center and destroying the center followed by long castle.

With black pieces you are playing d5 against d4, which is by far strongest move. I would like to suggest that in Scandinavian defense, you should not play Nf6 move instead capture the pawn right away with Qxd5 and then move your queen to Qa5. This variation is easy to play and before playing this you must watch some traps of Qa5 on Youtube. Because in some variation black’s queen is trapped in the opening.

Middlegame Suggestion:

In the middlegame, you have only two plans and goals. One is how to create a weakness in your opponent’s camp and second is how to exploit it.

If you don’t know yet how to find weakness in your opponent’s camp, then this guide may help you.

How to Create Weakness in Chess [Images and Games]

Another guide for middlegame is, learn chess strategies and tactics.

In order to reach 1500 rating, you must master techniques for strategies and tactics. Here is article which might help you: https://chessrewards.com/chess-strategies-and-tactics/

Endgame Suggestions:

In the endgame, you often neglected the most important topic, which is to create a passed pawn and playing with your active rook.

For improving endgame, you must learn Pawn and King endgame and Rook and Pawn endgame. Learn some famous rook positions like lucena position.

Conclusion

In the opening, learn Bishop Opening, and Scandinavian Defense with Qa5 Variation. In the middlegame learn how to create weakness. In the endgame, learn rook endgame and king and pawn endgame. If you apply my suggestion and work on my advice you will get 1500 rating in two months.

        })();

Opening Suggestion:

In above game, you played a3 on 3rd move which is a mistake, although you have the idea to develop your bishop and you want to get the tempo with b5 move, but in the opening always try to play e4 and d4 pawn because these two pawns controls the center.

Please remember that in the opening you have three tasks. One is to control the center, second is to develop your chess pieces, and third is to castle early.

You are playing different chess openings with white pieces, that’s not the way to learn chess, stick to the one setup and play enough until you know how to play and how to defend against it.

You are playing 1.e4 which is best by test as Bobby Fischer stated. So I would like to suggest you that you should learn Bishop opening with white pieces, but you also have to learn how to play against Sicilian defense.

If you do not have time to learn different chess openings then move to 1.d4 and learn London System.

with black pieces, you should defend 1.e4 with d5 move which is called Scandinavian defense, and against 1.d4 you should play Nf6 and e6, move.

Middlegame Suggestions:

You are willing to launch an attack as soon as possible, but remember that your opponent also has the same power and pieces, that’s why you have to be strategical and tactical.

In the middlegame, learn how to create weakness and how to exploit it.

Here is a guide: https://chessrewards.com/how-to-create-weakness-in-chess/.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, Learn Openings with theory, learn middlegame topics, and learn rook endgame and how to create a passed pawn. If you still have any questions, feel free to ask.
